Domaine des Hautes Glaces Vulson Organic Eau de Vie
£46.80
“Indigène” is the result of a vision, the reinterpretation of the Scottish single malt, the premier category in the world of whiskeys, in the style of Hautes Glaces. An exceptional whiskey anchored in a territory, nourished by its resources, sublimated by its constraints.

Description

A rye brandy as an ode to a cereal emblematic of our “high country”, but also of the world of spirits. A concentrate of flavors and a deep texture that will delight the taste buds of spirits lovers. A distinguished character to elevate the creations of mixologists A tribute also to Doctor Pierre Vulson de la Colombière who praised as early as 1638 the waters springing from the Puy which now bears his name. It is on these lands that the Hautes Glaces farm was established and it is these springs which today supply the distillery to create VULSON.

Nose:Petrichor: the smell that the earth takes on after the rain has passed. In the nose of Vulson there is a fresh volatility, a juicy fruitiness and an earthy smoke that anchors us to our soils!
Mouth: The texture in the mouth is soft and oily at the same time. Like a clockwork we swing between fruity touches, root juices and beautiful bitterness. We revolve around rye, its umami and its bakery flavor, a fully ripe plum to chew on, notes of gentian, agave, licorice which blend into a harmonious whole: the taste of our intention.

A malty wave and surging spices. The mouth dances in a peppery circle with again and again this vegetal and smoky reminder (braised hay, lapsang souchong). A score full of temperament. We taste a few drops of Vulson one evening and we tell ourselves that we will definitely take the time to be bored a little later.

The packaging is elegant and reflects the quality of the product inside. However, I wish the price point was a bit more accessible.
